Several days ago, we were talking about it on social networks: DOFUS Pets, the new mobile game from Ankama, is getting ready to land in 2017. To find out everything about the project and to follow its development, we invite you to immerse yourself in the heart of its production!

 

What is DOFUS Pets?


If you're an Ankama regular, these few images certainly won't be unfamiliar to you: it's the first DOFUS Pets teaser. Released on Twitter, Facebook and at the Toulouse Game Show in November, it briefly reveals… Well, alright, it doesn't reveal a lot, but that's why we're here today!

DOFUS Pets is a new F2P (Free to Play) mobile game in the Krosmoz universe, based on the principle of pet management. In line with tamagotchis, it offers players the chance to adopt a companion, to take care of it, to educate it, and to develop it, while offering various functionalities such as an integrated mini-game system and an extensive community dimension.
The overall concept of DOFUS Pets is vast, and there's much to reveal about the functionalities that we'd eventually like to offer - in particular, in terms of the wealth of social interactions - but we'll come back to give more details about this as it progresses!

 

A transmedia aim


Transmedia at Ankama is a bit like a second skin, and it's in this state of mind that we've developed DOFUS Pets every day: the team's desire is to create a link between each game in the Krosmoz through DOFUS Pets.

First of all, we'll offer players the possibility of unlocking exclusive pets and mounts from DOFUS, DOFUS Touch and WAKFU in DOFUS Pets. At the end of a game, the will therefore have the possibility of getting the companion they've raised in one of the MMOs and thus of continuing to develop it in a vaster universe.
 
 
Next, we'd like to offer transverse content from the various games, and probably new faces from the respective bestiaries. We're currently in discussions with the production teams in order to evaluate our scope of action, depending on the possibilities and technical constraints of each of them. You'll find out more about it in a future post: watch this space!

 

A project which is built… day after day


The production of DOFUS Pets - led by a team of 4 people - officially started in October. So the project hasn't been in development for long, and several points still need to be defined, objectified and finalized.

However, we have chosen to share it with you now, so as to involve you in the project from the start; through this blog, we want to invite you to follow its development, take part in its design, and get involved with the production team as closely as possible.

During the coming months, we'll let you discover the production backstage, the team in charge of the project, the features planned for the game, as well as the subjects for which we'll need you - the players - and your expertise.

So if you hadn't guessed, you're here on a forum for exchanging and sharing in order to build the project together, and one thing's for sure: we can't wait to show you what's next!

 

F.A.Q.

 

Will this be the same as DOFUS Pocket?

No; DOFUS Pocket allowed you to manage pets in its inventory, without connecting to DOFUS, the MMO. DOFUS Pets isn't a "companion" application to DOFUS, but rather a mobile game in its own right.
 

Is a Beta version planned?

Absolutely; we're planning 3 test versions in the first half of 2017, to test the game mechanics progressively more: a private Alpha version, a closed Beta version, and finally, an open Beta version.
 

Which environments will the game be available for?

DOFUS Pets will be released for iOS and Android in summer 2017, and will be compatible with smartphones and tablets.
We won't rule out the possibility of a Windows Phone version, but it's not a priority for us at the moment.
